Douglas County Historical Society
Douglas County Historical Society is located in the historic residence of Senator Knute Nelson, the house has been restored and has many of the original furnishings. The research library houses extensive historical and genealogical resources with 125 years of area newspapers. Guided tours available 9am-3pm Monday-Friday, or call to schedule a group tour.

The park consists of 304 acres of wooded, gently rolling land which has two shelters for picnicking, outdoor game fields, trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, mountain bike trails, a playground area and flower beds. Packed trails for fat tire biking and groomed cross country ski trails are available in the winter. There is also a downhill sledding hill right next to the Visitor Center, which is heated during the winter and is complete with a fireplace and restrooms for public use.

Legacy of the Lakes Museum
The Legacy of The Lakes Museum & Gardens in Alexandria, MN celebrates our beloved lake traditions and legacies. If you want to capture the history and traditions of going to the lake in your next event, look no further than the Legacy of the Lakes Museum! The museum is located in downtown Alexandria and is home to an extensive and ever-changing collection of classic boats, motors, and lake memorabilia. They offer indoor and outdoor event spaces to meet a variety of event needs. Events also have the opportunity to ass a museum tour as well! The gardens offer a relaxing setting among flowers, shrubs, trees, water features, and more. Open mid-May through October.

Runestone Museum
The Runestone Museum features dozens of exhibits which highlights Norse history, the Native Americans, Minnesota wildlife, early pioneers and the world-famous Kensington Runestone! Enter Fort Alexandria and visit several authentic log buildings, an 1880 country school house, and view a forty-foot Viking ship called the Snorri. Gift shop and museum open year around.

Spruce Hill Lutheran Church
The Historic Spruce Hill Lutheran Church began as a log structure built in 1881. It had seats of wooden planks set on stumps and its pulpit an upright log. The need for a larger church became evident and the present building was completed in 1902. A horse barn was added in 1913. To see the inside of the church, call The Douglas County Historical Society for arrangements.

Veterans Memorial Park
Veterans Memorial Park in Alexandria, Minnesota features a beautifully designed public memorial honoring veterans of all branches of the US military, living or deceased.
The Veterans Memorial Park is located on the corner of Broadway Street and 8th Avenue in Alexandria, Minnesota. It anchors historic downtown Alexandria on the south and welcomes visitors coming from the interstate. The park is an ideal setting for civic events and celebrations such as Memorial Day, July Fourth and Veterans Day.
The main focus of the Veterans Memorial Park is the 9-foot granite replica of the Liberty Bell placed in the center of a Pentagon and Star if seen from above. Nine flagpoles display flags of the United States, State of Minnesota, POW-MIA, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. Granite monoliths are inscribed with the names of over 7,000 veterans.
The park features a picnic pavilion and a heated restroom complex. The Veterans Memorial Park is wheelchair accessible.
